A doujin circle, Nidaime Tsubanomi Oji-san, follows the hidden struggles of cosplayers. Their latest commercial release series returns to its roots, presenting a work that seeks to reaffirm the very purpose of the circle. That purpose is simple: to help unknown cosplayers bloom. The mission is to protect cosplayers who have come to the city from the countryside, still unsure of their way, from troublesome photographers, conflicts among cosplayers, and the predatory influence of magazines and TV media, while guiding them toward success. But in today’s world, where everyone is quick to cry harassment or compliance, it can be a noisy and restrictive place. At times, stronger measures are needed to protect them. This work records those unavoidable measures.

The subject is S-chan, a cosplayer who came to the city from the countryside. She has a well-balanced face and a soft, appealing figure, but because she is from a rural area, her attractive appearance was not properly appreciated. With low self-esteem, she spent her adolescence shyly thinking, I’m nothing special…, while indulging in fantasies about matching with male characters in mobile games. She is a stereotypical fujoshi who spent her time in solitary habits and daydreams.

When S-chan finally made the move to the city, her poor communication skills became a major obstacle, and things did not go well. That is where the circle’s proud members, known for their imposing presence, stepped in.

In the first half, the four members overwhelm her with intense attention, leading to a wild group encounter where she is repeatedly driven to the brink, crying out in a frenzy. You may wonder if this is too harsh, but her hometown is such a remote rural area that she had to pedal a bicycle for about 40 minutes just to get to school. Having spent her teenage years in such an isolated place with low self-esteem, this intense initiation may well have been her first moment of truly blossoming as a woman. In fact, by the end, she repeatedly showed expressions of overwhelming pleasure and seemed deeply grateful to them.

The second half is a first-contact recording filmed when they first met S-chan. It is presented as a raw documentary-style account of a country girl encountering the city and gradually accepting a new experience despite initial resistance.
