CMU-125 Showa Ryo● Neo-Noir: Gate of Flesh 2

Chapter 1 follows a detective couple who raised the baby born to the wife of a death-row inmate. Twenty-three years later, the detective who served as the boy’s father figure is killed in the line of duty during a conflict with a yakuza group. His widow is then visited by the boy’s biological mother, who comes with a female human-rights lawyer and asks for her child back. In the midst of this turmoil, two members of the yakuza organization that bears a grudge against the fallen detective arrive and attack. The three women are each put in danger, and the son, Masao, is forced into a forbidden relationship with his biological mother. Sayo, the birth mother, embraces Masao as he breaks down in tears. Enraged, the adoptive mother, Masako, uses her late husband’s Colt Python revolver to shoot and kill the two gangsters. Chapters 2 and 3 depict a suspenseful neo-noir story of encounters and intimate relationships as the characters evade the yakuza pursuers and make their way toward the promised land. This second installment is a fresh-style suspense neo-noir filled with the nostalgic charm of the Showa era, created for fans who love all things Showa.
