DFE-094 Supported by My Daughter. Suzuka Sakura
When I was accepted into one of Tokyo’s most prestigious girls’ schools, no one was happier than my mother. Mornings began with watering the flowers. I would walk through the corridor connecting to the old school building, pray in the chapel, attend classes surrounded by the scent of osmanthus, and spend the afternoon in club activities with my classmates. In an all-girls school where boys were not allowed, we would get absorbed in talking about romance, and I would go home dreaming, Maybe someday I’ll fall in love too… That was my school life, my whole world.
Everything fell apart about two months ago. My father’s business, which had been doing well, suffered a major loss. To rebuild everything, we needed to cut back our way of life, but my mother refused to give up anything—not the place we lived, not her high-end clothes, nothing. One day, she introduced me to an older man she said was a company owner. Suzuka’s first time, he’ll pay a lot for it, she said.
I don’t remember how I answered my mother then. What I do remember is crying a lot, the man’s twisted smile, and a dull pain in my lower body. After that, my mother secretly brought home all kinds of men behind my father’s back and made me stay with them in exchange for money. No matter how much I resisted, she shouted that it was for the family, for my own good.
Today, I’m being taken to another unfamiliar place again. All I can do now is close my eyes and pray that time will pass quickly…
A story about a kind and pitiful girl who cannot escape the spell of a mother trapped by vanity.
