BRTM-094 The Complete Collection of Reiwa and Heisei Partner Swap Stories
In the 1970s Showa era, partner-swapping and group parties were popular in Japan. In the Heisei era, these practices evolved into consensual partner exchanges among younger and older married couples, and eventually into large group parties organized by swap-themed magazines, held in family rooms at well-known hotels. This work also includes a special section that uncovers and presents rare, astonishing archival footage from group gatherings filmed 40 to 50 years ago. It features eight stories of partner-swapping and group encounters that have continued from the Heisei era into Reiwa, including a first-time experience for young couples in a room next to a nightlife building in Kabukicho, a late-night gathering still held today in a rural village in Shikoku, a group event where a married couple invited another married couple, and a social gathering joined by mature couples seeking a better married life. This is the first installment of a definitive collection, a permanent archive of Japan’s partner-swapping stories.
